A sight to behold

This was a fantastic sight this afternoon - a sleeping baby! She was awake all night, sleeping for about half an hour at a time. Makes for a cranky Mommy and Daddy. And this is what we looked like this afternoon - exhausted!!! We are hoping that she'll sleep a little more tonight. Please Baby E, at least 2 hours?!

Relaxing

Here's Baby E all relaxed...wouldn't it be nice to sleep like that again?

Imitation

We learned a new trick! When you stick out your tongue, open your mouth, or purse your lips at Baby E, she will do it back! It is so cute...sometimes she doesn't get it quite right, but of course we think she's the smartest baby around :-) Here's a pic of Daddy sticking his tongue out at her and Baby E concentrating on how to do it too.

Another Photo Shoot

Baby E had her first professional photo shoot yesterday. The same person that took my maternity pictures did her newborn pics. I cannot wait to see them!! A preview will be posted on dnbphoto.blogspot.com soon, so you can have a look. In the meantime, here are a few pictures that Chad and I took last week. I LOVE them!!!

Her First Slippers

Baby E had a sponge bath yesterday. She had received this towel and slipper set, so she wore them after her bath. So cute!!!

Moving!!

So, we are packing (actually Chad is packing) for our big move. For those of who that didn't know, we are moving back to Michigan - our house sold the day Baby E was born and the buyers wanted to close on the 31st of July. Yikes!!! So, we are moving two weeks after our baby was born. Crazy, huh?

The house is a mess, boxes are everywhere and we are trying to decide what comes with us to the cottage, and what goes into storage in Grand Rapids. What a pain! But, so worth it, we'll be in Michigan where we want to be and we sold this house that has been on the market for a year and a half. Baby E was our good luck charm!!

Oh, How life has changed....

I (Chad) went to Target to pick up some 'supplies'. While checking out, I realized how things ahve changed. The checker was a twenty-something college kid who was just looking to end his shift and go hang out with is boys, the person in front was a twenty-something bachelor buying a six-pack and a video game, and the guy behind was a twenty-something also buying beer and frozen pizza. Meanwhile, I look at my basket, and in it was a nursing bra, two packs of diapers, and a pair of pink onesies. I noticed the looks of the 'gentleman' as I was searching for my coupon for the diapers. Yup, change has arrived....in the form of a beautiful Baby E.

She's Here!!!

I know, most of you already know she's here...sorry it has taken us so long to put up an update of our beautiful Baby E. She has been keeping us so busy! Amazing that something that little can take up so much time and take up so much of our hearts.

I'll post the longer birth story later, for those of you that are interested. But here's the short version - our doctor decided to induce at our 41 week appointment. She sent us upstairs right away, which kind of freaked us out...we went out, got our bags and called our parents on our way back in. I started an IV and Pitocin at around 2:45. By 12:07 Baby E was born.
She weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and is 20 inches long. She passed her APGAR with flying colors and looked perfect right from the beginning. All of her grandparents made it before she arrived so they saw her very soon after.

We were moved to another room and Baby E went with Daddy for a bath. (We have pictures, but they are getting developed - we didn't take the digital camera to the doctor's appointment, oops!). She came back and slept in the room with Mommy and Daddy, who were exhausted, but thrilled!

So far, this is her favorite way to sleep - arms up, just like Daddy used to. This is her coming home outfit - isn't she precious?!

Finally - Pictures of the Loft/Third Bedroom

Here is the view from the stairwell. It used to be open to the loft, but now, a wall...

And here is the new doorway...

And just for good measure, here is a picture of a 40 week, 5 day pregnant me. I can't believe I'm so large!!!

5th Anniversary!!!

So, today's our fifth anniversary. We had a plan...5 years and we'd have a baby and be back in Michigan. Well, neither have happened yet!!! We are 2 days overdue and our house still hasn't sold yet. So, we're in a holding pattern. A long, boring holding pattern - come out baby!!!

Due date!!!!

So, today was our due date, and nothing! We went to the doctor and had a non-stress test. Things look good. Especially when Chad made me laugh and it looked like I had a huge contraction! Oh, and when the doctor zapped my tummy to wake up the baby.

The good news - both baby quilts are finished!!!! Now, to find out which one we will use...details to come!!

4th of July

We went to the Mundelein Munch for the 4th of July - it's our little town festival where the local restaurants come out and sell food. Kinda like Taste of Chicago, but without all the shootings (check out the Tribune!). We got there nice and early, staked out a great spot, and loved the fireworks!!

Here is what we did while waiting for the fireworks to start - played Gin! We play this game often, and every time I have to remind Chad how...silly boy!
